A mining crystal may not be the best example of this from a profit in isk standpoint, but I chose it because it was among the easiest to calculate.
100% profit on a 30K item is one thing, but 100% on a ship that goes for 100 mil is another. I think I'm going to do some more math on that and see what I come up with.
Ah good. So you're not fixated on entering a market where nobody makes any significant profit. Keep in mind that the BPO holder could be selling that BPO for significant isk. Makes that 20 mil per month look even worse.
And looking for a t2 ship that gives a t2 BPO holder 100% profit? Sounds like you're the kind of sucker that buys t2 BPOs.

What is significant profit? Profit should be measured in percentages, not isk. A 30% profit is plenty, and should match the amount of risk you've put into it.
As for selling the BPO that is really not part of my discussion here. I'm starting to think that CCP should either make those BPO's available on the open market to everyone or they should remove them completely from the game. The first would make things equal without harming the market too much while the second is obviously more drastic and would not only negatively affect the market but would harm those who recently bought a T2 BPO for significant isk.
I just think things should be fair. Currently it's not. Looking at some of the T2 invention tools out here, it seems like there are many items where inventing the BPC is nowhere near profitable and the only people who can make money are the BPO holders. That just seems wrong to me.
As for your last comment, I'd ask that you keep things civil and refrain from calling anyone names. Maybe 100% was a bad number to use as an example, but I know that someone has been making a significant profit on some of those items. I've seen the price on transports go as high as 90 mil per ship. It's now down to 60 mil. Someone was raking it in. Maybe invention and supply has reduced the price, but in my mind there is still a problem.
You may recall that a character starts with 5,000 isk. No work, no capital. Infinite percent return. But you can't do much with 5k isk (well aside from the few traders that can magically turn that into more isk). Profit should be measured in isk.
Second, tech 2 BPOs already are on the open market via contracts. They aren't sold by NPCs, that's all.
Third, equality is not interesting. I'm smarter, better looking, and I whine slightly less on the forums. Of course, I should be making more isk.
Fourth, your comments about the transport market are flawed. You don't seem to understand where the isk comes from. A fast hauler could have made most of that profit just by shipping cheap transports from elsewhere. And the high hauler prices were probably due to a market manipulator who doesn't manufacture or haul, but merely trades in station. The market for transports and the profit to be made therein just aren't very dependent on who owns a t2 BPO.

Here's another question based on yours. How does having the BPOs in the game show any fairness to newer players?
You can buy and own via the open market, your own t2 BPO. Nothing aside from your inability or unwillingness to buy the BPOs prevents you from doing that. To whit, the simple solution to your lack of t2 BPO is to earn the isk you need (ranging from a few hundred million for those veldspar mining crystals to a few tens of billions for the sexier ship BPOs) and buy it.

Absolutely. When the item is high margin and high trade volume, then the inventor can beat the t2 BPO. A single manufacturer can make a lot more transports from invention than from a t2 BPO. Where invention fails is when there are more than enough t2 BPO manufacturers to supply the market.
I'm tired of hearing how unfair it is that "elites" have something that other players don't have. Of course they do. That's the whole point. There's no need to be "fair".

And of course, the primary inequality is simply that some people have a lot more than other people, be it skills, wealth, knowledge of the game, reputation, etc.
